A HEATHER WOOD PARTY

What, Where, When?

WHAT:
Heather Wood specified to her friends that she was not interested in a memorial. She decided that instead, she should have a “pre-morial.” While she is busy elsewhere celebrating at the Big Party Everyone Goes To, please join us at the Jalopy Theatre to celebrate Heather (currently dead) with a “Belated Pre-Morial.”

This will be a singing party! Bring a song or a recitation to share!

WHERE:
The Jalopy Theatre,
📍 315 Columbia Street, Brooklyn, NY.

WHEN:
Monday, September 2nd, 2024. (Labor Day)

1:00PM – 5:00PM

5:00PM onward in the Tavern and Backyard

FOOD AND DRINK:
Theatre will be open for drinks at 1:00PM
Light snacks will be provided at 3:00PM
Tavern opens for full menu of food purchases, including dinner, at 4:00PM

OCCUPANCY:

We are expecting that this may be a crowded event, and we have limited overflow space before 4:00 PM. We will prioritize seating for older folks and those with mobility limitations. Be kind to the Jalopy staff and each other and leave room for staff and attendees to come and go safely.

DRESS CODE:
Feel free to wear your most Heatherian outfit. Bright colors and wild patterns encouraged but not required. This event may be in both indoor and outdoor spaces, layer accordingly.

COVID PROTOCOLS:

Jalopy is equipped with 2 Upper-Room UVGI fixtures for added protection. However, to keep our community safe, this event requires vaccination for COVID-19. As New York State no longer updates vaccination cards, this will be on the honor system. Masking is not required, but please feel free to do so.

Additionally, we strongly recommend that you test at home on Monday morning. Please do not attend if you test positive! Because the current variant sometimes takes several days to register on at-home rapid tests, we also request that you do not attend if you are experiencing symptoms or have recently been exposed.

GETTING THERE:

TRANSIT: We encourage taking public transit or carpooling due to limited parking. The Jalopy is off the F and G trains (15 minutes walking) and 2 minutes from the B61 bus.

In addition, note that on Labor Day, the neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn hosts a large West Indian Day parade which results in street closures (though the trains run as usual). The rectangle between Grand Army Plaza, Buffalo Ave, Sterling Place, and Eastern Parkway will be closed to traffic, so avoid that area if driving in and plan for extra driving time if passing nearby.

In Lieu of Flowers:
Consider donating to one of these organizations Heather supported.
